Application Requirements:
Most dry cleaning machines use
water to cool the refrigerated solvent recovery unit, the solvent
distillation unit, and the solvent cooler. The unique aspect of these
heat exchangers is that they all require different flow rates and their heat
loads vary from the beginning of their cycle to the end.
For example, a typical dry cleaning
machine that has a 5 h.p. compressor for drying and a 50 GPH distillation rate
may have peak loading on the chilling system of 10 to 12 tons.
However, a properly engineered American Chiller of 5 tons capacity can be
utilized.
The keys are a reservoir
capacity that will store the excess heat until the cycles end, and a high
capacity pump to provide a continuous, high volume recirculating flow.
A properly installed American Chillers will maintain the reservoir temperature
within 5 degrees of set point.

Packaged chillers are the easiest
to install as everything is contained in one cabinet. The chiller
may be installed indoors or outdoors, by connecting the water lines and
power supply. It is then ready to run. |

designed for outdoor operation in 0F to 100F temperatures
Heavy 11 gauge tubular frame painted with rust preventive enamel
Laminated polyethylene cabinet panels with brushed aluminum veneer
Serviceable from front side
Air cooled, vertical discharge condensers designed for 100F air temperatures
Copeland scroll compressors with crankcase heaters and internal thermal
overload protection
Copper evaporative coils
Large polyethylene reservoirs with lifetime warranty
External tank level gauges, cabinet mounted tank fill port
High pressure pumps for 40 psi minimum, internal bypass loop, flow regulator

Modular Chillers and Systems

|
Modular chillers do not include a
tank or pump. The chiller unit is modular for stand alone installation.
Usually the module is placed outdoors and an indoor reservoir and pump are
connected separately to comprise a complete recirculating system. The
water piping will have to run outdoors and a glycol used where there is danger
of freezing. More than one module may be connected in parallel to make a system
of larger capacity. The advantage is independent module controls and
redundancy of chillers. Extra modules may be used to ensure zero down time
in the event of a failure of one unit. |
Split

 |
|
Split chiller Systems are package type chillers that have the refrigeration unit
outdoors and the tank, pump, and chiller coil inside. This
configuration is good for Northern climates as the water section is
indoors protecting it from freezing.

Tankless
water chillers are ideal for dry cleaning machines which lack a still and
refrigeration. The slim design allows machine to stand in a corner
or next to the dry cleaning machine. |
